The movie Into the Wild tells the story of a young man who traveled by foot up Stampede Road crossed the Teklanika River and got stranded
there and died. Stampede road is now a Jeep-ATV trail. I took John Berger and his daughter-in-law Jodi in my jeep and was followed by Wayne and Lynda, John’s son and wife. As you can see conditions were quite muddy and we had a lot of fun negotiating this trail. We saw a moose and 2 calves 10 feet from us but semi hidden in the woods. I had to pull Wayne out of a mud hole which was too deep for his smaller vehicle.
