July 31st Fantasy RV Tours & Dawson City Walking Tour

WOW! History comes alive as you walk or drive down the streets of this town.

If you like history or stories about miners, the old gold rush days, whatever, this is the place to be. This is where it all happened and you can see, feel
and breathe those days.

Our walking tour took us from the Keno, a stern wheeler, that went up and down the Yukon River hauling everything from wealthy business tycoons to precious metals and supplies, to the origional bank, post office (which still holds origional mail that was never picked up) to the local saloon and many other places where these turn of the century people lived and worked.

We saw Robert Service’s cabin and few blocks away was Jack London’s cabin. It is amazing to actually see where these men wrote many of their famous works.

Talk about the land of the midnight sun, the sun is still shining at 10 pm. How strange to be out running around at 11:00 pm and it’s still light out.

Today many of us tried our hand at panning for gold. We are going to “strike it rich”. Well maybe not but we sure got wet playing in the water. What a fun time.

Tomorrow we leave Dawson City and head for Chicken, AK. It is hard to believe that we have been on our adventure for 3 weeks already and there is so much more we are going to see and do. This is truly a dream vacation.
