September 5th Bear Watching Stewart/Hyder

We arrive in Stewart/Hyder after two days driving the less traveled, but more scenic Cassier Highway on our way home from Alaska.  Lakes and glacier-topped mountains make this route one of the prettiest in Northern British Columbia.

Stewart and Hyder are two little bergs straddling the USA/Canada border.  It is Stewart, BC and Hyder, AK.  The USA parks department has
set aside an area on Fish Creek for bear watching.  Many amateur and professional photographers spent hours here study the bears feeding on salmon as they swim upstream to spawn.   We spent a few hours ourselves do that photo stuff.  The bears are great fun to watch.

We get closer and closer to the end of our journey and tonight the group gathered for one of the last driver’s meeting.   We are all feeling a little lost at the thought  of this great experience with Fantasy RV Tours coming to a closer to an end.  Georgia Kautzman, wagon master,  and Darlene Weir,  tail gunner, bring out the making for ‘Smores, yum.  Even the drizzle of rain does not stop us from enjoying these sweet treats.
